Singapore Seletar Driving Range – NOT in Seletar Country Club?
What you guys/gals think about it? hitting golf balls off the grass patch which most of the time already being divoted by other range players before you. Thus, most of the time the ball covered with soil and lie on soil instead of grass. So, your club face definitely covered with soil and sand.
Is this the best way to train hitting the golf ball? Some may claim it is. I understand that with carpet mats, even if you hit the mat before the ball, the ball will still fly off nicely thus might give you a false impression. But some might says hitting the golf ball off the grass/soil turf gives you the true experience. Most of tour players overseas also uses such grass turf as driving range but of course those are better maintain.
No intention to flame or degrade the driving range but just open discussions to what your opinions are.
A bit of humor...

Seletar Base golf range is really crappy. The only advantage you get for practicing at that range is to simulate hitting shots out from the rough. Don't you think that the turf resembles the roughs on the golf course?
Frankly there is no difference with mat or real turf as long as you are executing your swing correctly.
Hear SB range is closing soon too and a new range opening in Punggol end of this year.
