why is it that nobody wants to hire me?
hello.
i'm a bored 19 year old 3rd year college student.
i was hoping to be accepted for a part time job
(like what i said, i'm bored so i thought of working),
but nobody wants me in (i guess).
here. you may check my rejection details:
1) mCdonald's
– i asked the manager to make me the sundae maker (ice cream) because i don't want to clean the toilet and wipe the messy tables.
2) infonxx
– it's a call center. idk why they did not let me in. you might say i have a head as big as an air balloon.. but urgh! i speak english better than those who were accepted!
– i even wore a corporate attire like it's supposed to be.. but they accepted those who just wore some Tshirt and jeans.
3) some well-recognized bake shop
– i recently gave my resume to the manager and she's still not calling me. aww.
4) some golf course (the most annoying)
– i play golf at that golf city's particular range almost everyday, so i thought they might hire me because i'm a player.. but they did not!
– during the first day of training, i did attend. but the next day, the manager sent me home. he said he would be dead if my parents learn that they let me work. urgh! but i told them that it's supposed to be a secret!
– the manager was tapping my head while saying something like "ohh dear. i'm really sorry so don't cry. maybe next time". gosh. i don't know if he's insulting me, or if he thinks i'm a cry baby.
my parents are discouraging me to work because it's unnecessary. but i said i want it. look. i'm trying my best here but why can't anybody see that? can't they be happy to see their daughter realize the value of work at this age?
also, my friends, parents, and golf coach said i'm too picky. yeah.. there's some truth in what they said.. but i can't imagine myself doing something i don't like! it's hard to force a soul dude.
could it be that i look younger than my age? well when they see me, they say i look like a high school student. HELLO!! is a 5'5 female too small to look like a 3rd year college student?
and here's the weird part. our house assistant told me that i should not bring my automobile when applying for a job. she said i should look poor and pitiful so the employer would have mercy on me. WTF? do i have to walk with charcoal on my face?
now, i only have on choice left. and that is, to become a Student Assistant, where all i have to do is stay in the library and stamp on books during my free time. but it's toooo simple. and i don't think i'm fit to work in a library since i'm totally not a book worm. i might fall asleep while working.
sorry if it's too long.
i was thinking that it might help you evaluate my nature.
please give me any suggestions.
but please don't make me cry because of horrid responses.
thank you for reading.
A bit of humor...

you should ask ppl from the phillipines..americans are likely not going to be able to relate to the culture their
people here dont discourage their children from working… nor would looking poor help you get a job, in fact, it'd do the opposite.
can't find a job? why don't you practice karaoke and get sent off to "entertain" in korea and turn into a money hungry juicy girl! Hope that helps. Hope you find this as humorous as I found your question. Don't take offense. Or should you?
well, you just have to be sure first on WHERE you really wanna work, evaluate the things that interest you,..and once you're set, you could start grooming yourself to suit that position.
The HRD (or anyone who decides on hiring employees) assess applicants on different aspects, not just on mere technical qualifications. Most, I would say strongly prefers individuals who are "riped" and mature (and this doesnt necessarily implies literal age)..who wouldnt crack up on ordinary pressures on a working environment.
When you apply for a job, dress aptly (not overdressed nor underdressed). If you appear to be overqualified, then they wont hire you (for fear that you wont be satisfied with the job and eventually leave the post, thus wasting their time).
I would say that your desire to work and to gain experience is really commendable, though i honestly feel that you are not emotionally ready yet. Just try to sort out your priorities and your goals in life, and what you really wanna do before embarking on decisions that you may regret later on. Hey, you're lucky, not everyone is given that privilege and luxury to "sort things out" you know.
Anyway good luck
Yep, you're picky.
It sounds like you don't really need the job, so why don't you just leave it to those who needs it? Well if you're really that bored then why don't you take up a new hobby? Or go out of town?
But if worst comes to worst, just get yourself a boyfriend. JK! xD
for first timers, job hunting is really a hunting job. yeah your situation is quite complicated too – rich gal who needs to prove to the world that you can do it though you don't need the pay.
getting a job is not(maybe not) the solution to your boredom. you should do what interest you – e.g. travel, explore, mingle & socialize get into music (well that's what i could think of right now). try ministry work- this will also sets your inner compass.
i do have some interesting points for you.
if you wanted to prove your self, then prove your self – get your hands dirty.
when i came back from Saudi no one would like to hire me because they can't pay me the salary I've been receiving. so i challenged the employer to pay me regular pay within 3months as construction supervisor and if i could increase the profit of the company in that short period they make me Jr. Architect. (I'm under license by the way). and so I'm now the Jr. Architect because i proved my self.
the Filipino way is "ninong" and "kompare"
)
tell your ninong – or friends of your parents or your classmates parents to hire you as a "executive assistant trainee"- basically you get to be an employee but under the cover of your ninong- the boss. since your a trainee they would not expect too much from you.
get a job that fits you- mcdo are for routine employees – infoXX are for those who can take insults from unsatisfied costumers – for the Golf- i think your rather play that render services to players, its more fun playing don't you think? i think these are not the places where you would like to build a career.
yeah what fits you are jobs like executive assistant trainee, administrative assistant trainee or personal assistant.
hope i open new avenue for your search
