I am a very active female, married and still working. My question relates to older people (other than me but also for me when I am much older). When my father died my mother went into a retirement resort mainly because my sisters thought it best for her to get settled somewhere before she reached to urgent stage (e.g. health deteriorated). As a trained nurse I was trained to think differently – there are all the resources in the community that one needs to stay in you rown home as long as possible and this should be encouraged. As it was my mother's memory went very quickly from the shock of being on her own in a unit, out of her usual environment (so she lost confidence in driving the car and lost her independence, familiar faces and activities). (She was 87yrs and lived a VERY active life previously, including playing golf twice a week, did the family business wages, met with friends etc. ). She went from bad to worse. What is your opinion?

I have a border collie around 18 mos or so(adopted him as a stray. we had the perfect living arrangement for him…land and my fiance and i to care/train him. My fiance passed away 2 months after adopting him, now the dog and i are in greenville sc in a small townhouse. doing everything possible to socialize and entertain him, BUT need some prof. training. he is becomming overly protective of me when someone comes to the door. he launched after someone last week.
he also has issues with bikes, skateboards and golf carts-assuming this is part of his herding instinct. i love him more than anything in the world and will do anything to keep him healthy and happy. he travels everywhere with me and gets plenty of socialization w/people & other dogs. even has a dog sitter(they have a dog too) who watches him while i work. any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated! he expresses most bc characteristics, except he's pretty laid back. Thanks for your help!

What you guys/gals think about it? hitting golf balls off the grass patch which most of the time already being divoted by other range players before you. Thus, most of the time the ball covered with soil and lie on soil instead of grass. So, your club face definitely covered with soil and sand.
Is this the best way to train hitting the golf ball? Some may claim it is. I understand that with carpet mats, even if you hit the mat before the ball, the ball will still fly off nicely thus might give you a false impression. But some might says hitting the golf ball off the grass/soil turf gives you the true experience. Most of tour players overseas also uses such grass turf as driving range but of course those are better maintain.

The latest wave of video game technology is doing much more than keeping teenagers entertained … it's preparing doctors for the operating room.
Surgical resident Jeff Henke is playing games … in hopes of becoming a better surgeon.
"This isn't exactly what I pictured when I thought of medical school."
Those control sticks on the Nintendo wii are actually probes … the same kind he'll use in the operating room.
"This does really help. It kind of coordinates your hand movements, gets you prepared to go into the operating room and perform laparoscopic surgery."
Doctors had to make a few adjustments to turn the wii accessories into surgical tools.
"We took the golf club out and actually put this — a laparoscopic probe — on it."
Using these cyber gloves to record and measure hand movements, bioinformatics expert Doctor Kanav Kahol made a discovery … the coordination used to play the games is similar to what's needed in laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery.

Are there any golfers in Turkey. I've heard some youngsters winning tournaments. Where do they train? Which city has the best golf range?
