We have a family dog, female black lab, that will be 10 (human) years old in October. Ever since we had her as a puppy, she has been trained to go to the bathroom in the grass area of our backyard.
Unfortunately, my dad regrets training her to go to the bathroom in the grass. It used to be as green as a golf course, if you know what I'm saying. Which is why my dad wants to do something different to prevent further damage to our grass.
We have a dirt/weedy area [no grass] that is also located in our backyard that my dad would prefer her to do all of her bathroom business at. But, he wants to know HOW exactly to train her to go there, instead of the grass; which is where she is so used to going.
There is the option of force, but we don't want to do that. We want to be able to open the backdoor and allow her to go to that specific area and do her business every time there, instead of the grass.
